Blessed with stunning islands, sandy beaches, and awesome sea cliffs, Krabi is without a doubt one of the most popular tourist destinations in tropical Thailand. Here are the highlights in Krabi to take in for that ultimate Southern Thailand holiday.

1

Island hop

The province of Krabi is home to some of the most beautiful islands in the country including the big names such as Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi, where spending a few days longer is highly recommended. The coral channel that connects the two islands of Koh Rok is also renowned for some incredible snorkelling spots and views. The island of Koh Gai is ideal for those looking to sunbathe to their heart's content on idyllic powdery shores kissed by crystal clear waters. In Koh Jum, you can explore lush mangroves, laid-back beaches, and tiny fishing communities. Speedboats, ferries, and private charted long-tail boats connect the islands, and day trips can be organised with ease, as it is one of the popular Ao Nang things to do.

Go rock climbing

The Krabi coastline is known for magnificent limestone rocks and striking cliffs that seem to rise out of the dazzling azure blue waters of the Indian Ocean. The Railey peninsula is a great place to go rock climbing. Another great spot is Tonsai Beach which offers the chance at exhilarating rock climbing accompanied by awesome views to boot. The best thing about Krabi is there are plenty of highly reputed rock-climbing schools you can enroll at to enjoy a safe and fun climbing experience. Many accommodation options including hotels the likes of Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort, will arrange for lessons upon the request of guests.

Krabi is also home to wild-life rich mangroves and secret lagoons, and there is no better way to discover them than by a session of kayaking. It's also a great opportunity to explore some fascinating sea caves littered with intriguing rock formations and varied aquatic life. Most tour operators that offer kayaking experiences also include snorkeling spots, so be sure to inquire about this. A popular spot for kayaking is AO Thalane.

The main beach town in mainland Krabi, Ao Nang lays claim to a very active night scene.
