Planning a trip to the Maldives is easy because you don't have to think too much about the weather. The islands experience only two seasons: the wet and dry. During the wet season, you will have occasional showers brought on by the monsoon. But it's still sunny and resort rates are much less expensive. Whichever time you choose to go, know that you will arrive in the capital Male Island. From there, you must transfer to your Maldives resort. You can choose to do so via seaplane, speedboat or the local ferry. The ferry is the least expensive but it can be quite slow, with no proper schedule. Speedboat and seaplane transfers are the best but they are expensive. Seaplane baggage allowances are much less than your long-haul flight allows, and you will be charged for excess. Discuss your transfer options before you go, once you book your resort in the Maldives.
