Despite the throngs of lively beachgoers, it attracts throughout the week, Flic en Flac is still one of the unspoiled beaches on the island with surreal beauty and natural scenery. The coral reefs protecting the beach from strong sea currents make it a great place to enjoy a dip for everyone in complete safety.

North Coast: Trou aux Biches - the epitome of stunning Mauritius beaches

Set in an idyllic backdrop of shady casuarina trees, Trou aux Biches is undoubtedly the most picturesque beach on the North Coast. In fact, many tourists to the country find that it is the most beautiful of all beaches on the island. Aside from its breathtaking beauty, another thing that Troux aux Biches is famous for is snorkelling. The crystal clear waters, colourful coral reefs, and the abundance of marine life such as turtles make it a great spot to explore the treasures of the world under the sea.

South Coast: La Cambuse - unspoiled stretches of sand in its pristine form

La Cambuse is one of the most preserved attractions in Mauritius that you can visit not only to get a good dose of sun and sea but also to enjoy one of the few beaches on the island that remains unscathed from commercial tourism developments. Unwind and immerse yourself in the breathtaking serenity before another mega-development subtly claims this natural treasure. If you find that you can't get enough of the charms of La Cambuse, remember that there are several fine hotels nearby, including the likes of Anantara Iko Mauritius.

South Coast: Gris Gris - dramatic cliffs boasting awe-inspiring ocean views

Take a break from the white sandy beaches and visit Gris-Gris, another glamorous beach on the South Coast, for a change in scenery. Surrounded by dark, rocky terrain, it takes quite a trek to get to the top of the beach's majestic rock formation. Once at the top of the cliff, you will be treated to spectacular views far out into the Indian Ocean.

East Coast: Blue Bay - crystal clear waters and lush green vegetation

Just as the name suggests, the water of the Blue Bay beach is crystal clear with different shades of shimmering blue. Go on a glass-bottom boat trip or snorkelling excursion to enjoy the island's best underwater scenery. As the home to the Blue Bay marine park, you are also guaranteed to spot some beautiful sea creatures during your exploration.
