Guinea pigs don’t spend all that much time sleeping, so what exactly do guinea pigs do in bedding?
Guinea pigs are light sleepers and their sleep patterns are usually scattered throughout the day/night. They sleep only about 4-6 hours total, a day (source). And, they don’t sleep for long periods, they sleep in short intervals throughout the day/night.
Bedding is important for your guinea pigs, but why? What do guinea pigs do in bedding and what is the best bedding for your guinea pig?

Popcorning is cute little things guinea pigs do in their bedding. Guinea pigs get excited too!! And when they do, they run and sometimes do a little quick little jump in the middle of their run because they are just soooo excited that they can’t contain it!
What do guinea pigs do in bedding? Sleep of course!
While they hardly appear to sleep at all, guinea pigs do use their bedding for quick naps throughout the day! They may sleep in a corner if you have curtains set up or under a hut.
Also include hideouts in their cage as guides pigs are prey animals, so it’s in their nature to hide. Providing them with a place to hide offers them security.
Have you ever noticed how often your guinea pig pees and poops? It’s A LOT! Guinea pigs poop a lot in their bedding!
