The Ultimate Packing List for your Maldives Private Vacation-Your best checklist!

A trip to the Maldives is an exciting event, and you would want to be prepared to experience the best this amazing destination has to offer.

1

Clothes

In terms of clothing items like bathing suits will of course be a given. However, don't forget to pack a few extras and a nice cover-up, like a beach sarong. An extra suit will come in handy while the other one is drying. Also make sure you have a bright coloured swimsuit, in colours like bright orange, pink or red. The contrast will be luminous amid the turquoise blue waters for some striking photos. Two or three pairs of comfortable shorts in light material such as cotton or soft denim. These will be nice for a quick stroll or jog on the beach or for wading. Bring along several cotton t-shirts, shirts or tank tops. These should nicely match with the shorts. A few flowery or cotton dresses will also be perfect for the evenings and during dinner. You should, of course, pack something extra nice, like an evening dress if you are on a romantic holiday.

2

Shoes

A nice pair of flip flops will do for the beach nicely. For the better part of your time, it is guaranteed you will be in flip flops or barefoot. Add an extra pair one in case one gets wet or caked with sand. A comfortable pair of sandals might also come in handy if you want to explore around your islands or visit some attractions in Male or other inhabited islands.

3

Sun protection

Sun protection is very important, as the sun is very harsh in these regions. A nice big beach hat, sunglasses and plenty of waterproof sunscreens is a must. It is even better if you can ensure the sunscreens are environmentally friendly as well. As some chemicals in cremes affect the corals causing them to deteriorate.

4

First aid

Pack a small first aid kit with essential medication such as painkillers, cold medicine, mosquitoes/insect repellent, antiseptic, plasters and any daily medication you may take with prescriptions. The Maldivian immigration authorities are very suspicious of drugs coming into the country, so carry all labels, packaging and prescription notes that come with them.

5

Miscellaneous

If you love to snorkel, you can bring your own. Some luxury hotels in Maldives and resorts may charge you extra for rentals unless it's an all-inclusive package. However, do check with your accommodation first before bringing any gear with you.
Bring along a laundry bag to pack in all your wet clothes. The last thing you want is water and sand to engulf your luggage. Most resorts such as Niyama Maldives will probably provide you with these things, but take one just in case. Also, pack a few books you have been meaning to read, instead of any electronics. Leave most of them at home, except for your phone, chargers, and some extra batteries. A water bottle and a small backpack to carry with you if you want to do some sightseeing in the other islands.
