Watch how the coastline has changed over the decades from 1984 to 2016. These images are from satellite images from NASA. It is the coastline along Massachusetts. The islands appear to be growing, shrinking and changing. As you go through images, make some hypotheses as to why these changes occur. This same thing is occurring to Georgia’s barrier islands as well (like Tybee Island).
We have all heard about the Grand Canyon in Western America. However, have you heard about Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon. Both canyons did not look like they do today hundreds of years ago. When you click the link, read the information on the page, watch both videos, and browse through images.
What processes/events caused the creation of the Little Grand Canyon?
Erosion is happening all the time at Black Canyon. Ranger Kelly shows students how erosion affects Black Canyon and how people play a part too.
How did erosion affect Black Canyon?
How are people and erosion connected?
Ever wonder how sand made it to the beach? Well check out this website. It is a virtual tour of a small beach.
What forces and processes help to create beaches like this one?
This link provides you interactive simulations of some of earth’s landforms and processes. You can watch as the land changes before your eyes. You can also mark some of the images to keep track of the changes. As you view and interact with these simulations, start to think how they might connect with the landforms from Module 1.
Play with the settings in either Introduction or Advanced. Record Observation:
What happened when:
The temperature increased?
The temperature decreased?
Snowfall increased?

The little dots are pieces of rock and dirt. So what do you think the glacier is doing to the surface of the Earth?
Watch the video and complete activity. Now answer:
How can you stop a landslide?
