Pay homage to the Temple of the Tooth Relic

This sacred temple is one of the most important Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. Located to the north of Kandy lake, it is one of the most remarkable attractions to visit in Sri Lanka. The temple houses the sacred tooth of the Lord Buddha, to which devotees from around the island and the world flock to offer their prayers. A designated UNESCO World Heritage site, the temple is housed within the royal palace complex of the former kingdom of Kandy.

Stroll around Kandy Lake

The Kandy Lake is located smack dab in the middle of the town and is a great place to take a stroll around during the late morning or early evening. The man-made lake was built during the year 1807 and lays claim to a lot of historical importance. A must-visit for anyone for those who travel to Kandy looking forward to relaxing in the serene hills.

Knuckles Mountain Range

Visit the Bahirawakanda Temple

This temple is located is just one kilometer from the city of Kandy, and is another popular attraction to visit. The temple boasts of a magnificent structure, which can be spotted from anywhere in the city. Do note that visitors are not allowed to wear footwear within the premise, and must be dressed appropriately covering bare knees and shoulders.

Royal Botanical Gardens

Easily one of the most beautiful and best places to explore in Kandy, the Royal Botanica Gardens is a charming destination to explore. Here you can find over 4000 species of flora including a stunning variety of orchids. The gardens sprawl over 147 acres of land, and is a great spot to laze around and enjoy a picnic. The park is open to the public from 7.30 am to 5 pm in the evening. The garden can be easily reached via a local tuk-tuk without any issue.

The Ceylon Tea Museum is located in Hantan was opened to the public in 1925, and is made up of four floors. The first two showcase vintage tea-making machinery, equipment and features a library filled with books on tea and related expertise. Here visitors will also get the chance to take a tea and factory tour to get a look at how the modern factories in Sri Lanka produce the world's best tea, visitors will also get the chance savor a complimentary cup of fragrant Ceylon tea as well.
