Don't miss out on the Moo Hong

A dish is also known as the humble pork belly stew. People are treated to a slow-cooked stew with a peppery gravy with a combination of umami, meat, sweetness and spice. This fatty and decadent set of flavours is traditionally served during special holidays such as the Hokkien Chinese celebrations and a healthy serving of rice.

Get a sugar rush with O-Aew

There is no better experience than trying out new desserts in new places. If you are ever in Phuket, be sure to keep an eye out for this yummy jelly dessert. Comprising of a jelly made out of banana extracts, a special fig seed brought over by Chinese immigrants.
One of the best places to try this dish out at is the Vachira Phuket Hospital where a local vendor called Mr Roj O-aew has been dishing out this treat for the past 44 years.

O-Tao is the way to go

When it comes to oyster omelettes there is no better way to enjoy it than with some boiled taro, baby oysters, egg, flour, onion and a few other delicious treats. This dish can be found abundantly, particularly during the Chinese New Year. There is even a sentiment that the stickiness of the flour is meant to be symbolic of the bond between family members.
The best part about this dish is that its origins can be traced and the original stall can still be visited today. It is currently run by the third generation of the founder and still serves up its delicious omelettes.

You cannot go wrong with Mee Pad Hokkien

This dish is made up of thick egg noodles fried in dark soy sauce with a plethora of seafood and meat is the best dish for those hoping to have a hearty meal on their travels in Phuket.
While there are many places to try this dish, do take your time to try out the unique flavours available at each location.

Look Chin Pla

This dish is essentially steamed fish balls and is a dish that made its way over to Phuket during the 19th century. These fish balls are served dry while in the rest of Thailand you are likely to find fish balls served in some form of broth.
