Best Restaurants in NYC for Outdoor Dining

Summer's not over yet! Which means there's still time to enjoy outdoor dining. So before it gets cold again, visit these restaurants that Glenwood has picked as offering the best outdoor dining experiences! Which of these restaurants have you been to this summer? Got one to add? Add it! :)

The real calling card at this whimsical Williamsburg bistro (besides rollicking Bastille Day parties and excellent Moules Frites, that is) is their expansive roof deck. Decked out with antique light fixtures and hanging plants, and outfitted with its own bar, “Le Roof” is the perfect place for whiling away a spring evening with a plate of Escargot, a French 75 cocktail, or a chilled bottle of surprisingly affordable Blanc de Blancs.

Cannibal NYC

Not exactly a date night place but, great for meat and beer. Love the Cannibal Dogs!

The Standard Hotel

The restaurants, bars and clubs of the Standard Hotel, which straddle the High Line in the Meatpacking District, are about as fabulously trendy as you'd expect, given its location; it's of-the-moment design (sleek, shiny, AND retro), and its reputation, both here and in Los Angeles, as being a celebrity magnet.

The Pod Hotel Rooftop Garden

Located in Midtown East, The Pod Hotel has some serious cocktail cred and guests can enjoy snacks from April Bloomfield's Salvation Taco, which is located in the lobby level below.

Hudson Hotel's Tequila Park

The outdoor bar area at the Hudson Hotel, which over the winter was turned into a ski lodge, has now been re-concepted as Tequila Park. Now with a fresh-fruit margarita stand, including 40 varieties of tequila, and a taco shack.

Central Park Boathouse

The iconic Central Park Loeb Boathouse offers a serene city escape, as it boasts outdoor dining with a glittering lakeside view. Savor upscale cuisine at the waterfront restaurant or relax with beer and burgers at the Express Cafe as boats and birds glide by in the water. After you eat, rent a bike or a rowboat to further experience all that Central Park has to offer, or take a gondola ride—but be sure to make reservations ahead of time.

Osteria Cotta

If you're living on the Upper West Side, put Osteria Cotta Restaurant and Wine Bar in your pocket for the next time you're up in the 80s, after a day on the Great Lawn, say, or a visit to the Museum of Natural History.

Hudson River Cafe

Outdoor dining experience consisting of a two-level outdoor lounge patio. Enclosed by gated garden walls, a courtyard bar, and frequent live music bands!

La Birreria

A rooftop brewpub atop Mario Batali’s Italian superstore, Eataly. The space features views of the Flatiron Building and the Empire State Building, plus a sliding-glass roof that allows it to remain open year-round. Get house beers, made on site and devised by Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head, Teo Musso of Baladin, and Leonardo Di Vincenzo of Birra Del Borgo. Excellent but pricey beer-drinking grub includes fennel-laced grilled quail and fat probusto sausages.

The deck at this Meatpacking District resto is back for a second go-round this summer, and even if you aren't a huge fan of the eatery's playful fare, you're guaranteed a party on the porch along with plenty of pretty people. The alfresco area is tucked away behind latticework that shuts out much of the noise from the cobblestone streets that surround the venue, and groups can split punch bowls and small plates. If you want to get above ground level, the Gansevoort also plays host to perennial rooftop favorite Plunge.

Stone Street Tavern

This Financial District block may be known for its happy hour mingling after work, but from April to November, this lower Manhattan haunt features a weekend brunch for an equally social crowd. Try the Bananas Foster French Toast or order lighter fare like the savory Spinach Egg White Omelet.
