1

The varied landscapes

Tunisia may be the smallest country in Northwest Africa, but despite its geographical extent, it is rich in diversity of landscape. Discover Medinas decked in blue and white, the incredible sights of the Sahara Desert, such as the Grand Oriental erg with its golden dunes. Then there are the oasis's, salted lakes, the lush mountains, the dry valleys and little wild rivers, a lot to see and do!

2

The sunny beaches

Tunisia is known for the long stretches of sunny coastline and lovely weather. The many seaside Tunisia resorts testify to the popularity on that front. Check out the beaches near Monastir, Hammamet, and Djerba to name a few. Beyond that, there remain large extents of coastline that are well maintained, such as Cap-Serrat and Sidi Bou Said. As well as tiny recesses with pristine waters to revel in diving and snorkelling. You may check out places like Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas.

3

Its monuments and archaeological sites

Tunisia is steeped in a long history that dates back to the Phoenician merchants of the 8th century BCE who founded the city that became an empire, known as Carthage. The formidable city flourished in the Mediterranean before the Romans came into power. Although the original remnants of Carthage were destroyed by the Romans, there are many ruins of what became a significant Roman province during the times of the Roman Empire.
The cities of Carthage and Dougga are listed among the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Other interesting attractions are the mosque and tanks of Kairouan, the Roman amphitheatre known as the Coliseum of El Jem, the synagogue of Djerba, and the Medina of Tunis. Don't forget to journey to the important castles amid the Tunisian desert within Tataouine and Matmata. If you are a fan of Star Wars, you may want to visit the site of the former, which was a location for the movie 'The Phantom Menace'

4

The food

Tunisian cuisine has a Mediterranean flavour and is a rich combination of flavour and spice. It is indeed a land where peppers, olives, garlic and harissa dominate the food scene! If Mediterranean food is your speciality, then you will love the food of Tunisia. Relish dishes like couscous, Ojja (baked eggs in a spicy tomato sauce), Lablabi, a delicious soup made from chickpeas and garlic, brik, a thin sheet of pastry is enclosed in an egg filling and fried, and Tajine. Don't forget to taste the sweet and caramelly Delget Nour dates, and Tunisian pastries such as almond and pistachio baklava, influenced by the Ottoman Empire.

5

The people!

Tunisian people will sincerely welcome you with a smile! Tunisians are friendly, helpful, and have a genuine interest in foreigners. They like to share their culture freely with guests, which makes the country so much more wonderful than it already is!
