Things to do in the Avenue of Stars – Prepare to be dazzled

Celebrities are almost revered for their contributions to the perception of their respective nations on a global stage and for what they represent as individuals. In Hong Kong, such stars are honoured by giving them a place on the Avenue of Stars.

1

Examine the Avenue of Stars

Established in 2004, the Avenue of Stars is currently located at Tsim Sha Tsui, right alongside Victoria Harbour. Over the years, thousands of people have walked along this stretch and seen all those wore we deemed worthy immortalised in red. Each statue is 4.5 meters tall and is essentially a replica of the award handed to winners at the annual Hong Kong Film Awards.
This 440-metre-long walkway is now covered with the signatures and handprints set in the cement of all the stars that have earned their place here. Amongst these stars are those, who have also gone on to win prominence in Hollywood as well. These celebrities range from Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Stephen Chow and of course, Bruce Lee.
With cinema playing a considerable role in the cultures of many nations, it is no surprise that Hong Kong has taken steps to memorialise its stars. Those staying at a Kowloon hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, such as the Park Hotel Hong Kong, will find themselves a mere 15-minute walk from the Avenue of Stars.

Snap a picture with Bruce Lee

One of the first actors from Hong Kong to break into Hollywood and make way for others to follow in his footsteps was Bruce Lee. Renown for his prowess as a martial artist and his ability to write scripts, his charisma, and of course, his acting, Bruce Lee remains respected and beloved to this day.
Also referred to as the 'Greatest Martial Artist of All Time', a 2.5-metre-tall bronze statue was placed on the Avenue of Stars and people just love taking pictures in front of it.

3

Enjoy the stunning Hong Kong Skyline

If there is something to be amazed by, it is most certainly the skyline of that city of Hong Kong as the sun sets and the city's lights turn on. It seems out of place on Earth, just barely, though. With massive skyscrapers towering amongst other buildings that are by no means diminutive.
For an even better experience, be sure to arrive a little earlier so you can really bask in the beauty of the skyline with a stunning sunset as its backdrop.

4

Time to grab some food

Being right along the ocean, as well as the copious amounts of walking, means that you will be feeling a little peckish before long. But, worry not, there are plenty of little stalls to grab a bite to eat from. So, before you know it, you will be munching on grilled shredded squid or simply relaxing at a nearby Starbucks!

5

Pick up some souvenirs

No visit to the Avenue of Stars is complete without the purchasing of memorabilia or souvenirs to take back home to your friends and family. Several kiosks sell such items, so you will have plenty to choose from.
