The city of Xi'an is a part of the cultural heartlands of China. Since discovering the world-famous Terra-Cotta Army in 1974, the city has become a hotspot of education regarding the Tang Dynasty.
The city is filled to the brim with palaces, and so much more so it is well worth a visit.

Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum

This museum is well known around the world for many reasons. One of the most prominent reasons for this is the presence of the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin.
With a whole cavalcade of reasons individuals, this terracotta mausoleum contained 8000 soldiers, 520 horses, and 150 cavalry horses.
The story goes that Emperor Qin was engaged in a dramatic tale of hostages, feuding brothers, and China's unification as we know it.
In an attempt to protect himself as he transcended into the afterlife, he brought into his tomb the terracotta soldiers created in the likeness of his sharpest soldiers.
At the time of its discovery, this find was considered to be the archaeological finds of the century.

Visit the world of the Tang Paradise

This monument to a glorious yet bygone era exists within the city of Xi'an. The Tang Paradise is the modern replication of the Shaanxi province's best during the Tang Dynasty. With close to 165 acres of land, this expensive location holds a stunning lake as well as a forest of willow trees.
It is believed the best way to enjoy the tourist hotspot is to spend the day enjoying the reconstructed monuments, following which people can walk around the lake while ending the night with the laser or light show that takes place over the lake.

Explore the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda

A popular destination for visitors, this seventh-century building is home to a variety of Buddhist scriptures that the traveller and scholar, Xuanzang, gathered.
Visitors are encouraged to pay and climb to the peak of the pagoda and enjoy the stunning views it offers.

The Daming Palace National Heritage Park

Built during the 600s and used until the 900s, this Tang Dynasty royal residence was discovered in 1957. After a variety of restorations, it was finally opened for the public. As a result, this is one of the best places in the city to immerse yourself in the tales of the restored Palace of Great Brilliance.

The Louguantai Temple

Located roughly 70km from the city of Xi'an lies the tiny Tayu Village, which contains the well-known Louguantai Temple. The establishment is also considered the Temple of Taoism. Taoism, Lao-Tze, is said to have set out the fundamentals of the religion in the Tao Te Ching.
With a history of over two thousand years, the temple provides visitors with an intimate experience of history.
