Missionaries

The treaty to annex Hawaii to the United States was passed the following month, shortly before the end of Benjamin Harrison's term, but his successor, President Cleveland, canceled the treaty in March 1893.

Soon the Constitution of the Republic of Hawaii was adopted, and S. Dole became its first president. A conspiracy was organized with the aim of a coup d'état and the return of the monarchy. But these undertakings were not carried out.
