Top 5 Things to Do in Khon Kaen with Kids - For an unforgettable family vacation!

With its spectacular landscape, a range of intriguing animal parks, the ever-present temples, and breathtaking lakes and reservoirs, Khon Kaen is a vacation destination that is coming into its own. Continue reading to discover the top things to do in the region!

1

Bueng Kaen Nakhon

This is positioned southeast of Khon Kaen's central district. The lake is among Khon Kaen's most prominent features. It's a fantastic attraction for the whole family. You may hire bicycles for a family trip, take a peaceful stroll in the park, or simply let your children play at the playground. You may also spend some time fishing, renting fishing rods, and buying bait, but keep in mind that fishing is only permitted in the lake's southeast part.

2

Dino Water Park

There are many things to do in Khon Kaen but make sure you don't miss out on the Dino Water park. This is the largest water park in northeast Thailand. Its activities and attractions are constructed and managed by expert personnel from Polin, a Turkish producer of water park attractions, and Atlantis Pool, a Turkish manufacturer and installer of water systems for water parks. It's really the only water park in this region and offers a variety of large and interesting attractions. If you would like to find accommodation around the region, why not check out Avani Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre, which is approximately an 18-minute ride away from the park.

3

Hong Moon Mung Khon Kaen City Museum

The name of this museum translates to "a hall of treasure". The place is aptly named as it has artefacts of historical significance from the region as well as the country. The museum is located in the town of Kaen Nakhon. The displays are presented using contemporary interactive technology and sophisticated designs.

4

Hat Sawan Beach

The "Heaven Beach" of Had Sawan (Hat Sawan) is a must-visit during your time in Khon Kaen with your kids. The beach can only be seen during the dry seasons in the country. The majority of visitors visit for a lunch with friends and family as well as a day out. Lunching at the "elevated" restaurants here offers you easy accessibility to the beach. The water might be just metres away from your very seat during the rainy season. You may rent floats, ride banana boats, go swimming, or simply enjoy the lovely view while eating a delicious dinner at Had Sawan.

5

Phu Wiang National Park

In 1976, a geologist uncovered a massive patella bone, and palaeontologists dispatched to investigate found a petrified 15-metre long herbivore. After Thai Princess Sirindhorn, it was given the name Phuwiangosaurus Sirindhornae. As more dinosaur fossils were discovered, a frenzy of interest in dinosaurs erupted. Trails from the tourist centre lead to secured digging sites, including one containing a half a skeleton of an ancestor of the Tyrannosaurus Rex – Siamotyrannus Isanensis. Full-size palaeontology and geology exhibits as well as animatronic representations of dinosaur species that previously roamed the region can be found in the Phu Wiang Museum.
