Top 6 Beaches to explore in Tweed Coast – Rejuvenating beach escapes!

Boasting a 38km coastline of sandy beaches fringed by serene creeks, lush headlands and clear blue waters, the Tweed Coast is any beach lover's paradise. Here are 6 of the best beaches that can be found along its pristine coast.

1

Casuarina Beach

Quietly lying between the beaches of Kingscliff and Cabarita, Casuarina Beach is a tranquil stretch of golden sand fringed by nature reserves, playgrounds and cycling tracks. Head here if you want to enjoy a lovely summer afternoon by the water without the chatter of the crowds. Many hotels and resorts are located a stone's throw away from this beach, including the likes of Oaks Casuarina Santai Resort. Casuarina Beach offers a front seat view of a spectacular sunset against a backdrop of pinkish-blue, reminiscent of a beautiful work of art.

2

Little Cove

If you fancy a peaceful beach experience, head to Little Cove. This tiny bay, also known as Norries Cove, is situated on the Cabarita coastal stretch, shadowed by the Cabarita or Norries headland. There is enough to do on this tiny stretch of sand; you can surf the waters or sightsee the surroundings. Walk along the 800m boardwalk at Norries headland and take in the stunning sights around you. Be sure to watch out for whales as you do.

3

Kingscliff Beach

Head a few minutes north of Little Cove to discover Kingscliff Beach. This patrolled stretch of sand is a popular spot for all beach lovers. Located at the south end of Wommin Bay, Kingscliff Beach boasts a large expanse of beach nestled at the opening of Cudgen Creek. If you are looking for spacious and comfy hotel rooms in Kingscliff, you will be spoilt for choice due to the array of options on offer. While Kingscliff is ideal for surfers due to its exciting swells, families tend to veer off mid-day towards Cudgen Creek or 'little beach' for some snorkelling and kayaking. Kingscliff is also an ideal spot for unwinding or enjoying an exquisite meal by the water.

4

Dreamtime Beach

Dreamtime Beach in Fingal Head is located a few kilometres north of Cabarita and Kingscliff. This unspoilt stretch of white beach was considered among the top three beaches in Australia. The beach can be accessed through the headland, sitting atop a magnificent basalt rock base. This rock base was created by remnant lava trails from the ancient volcano, Mount Warning, millions of years ago. Enjoy views of the ocean and Cook Island, and be on the lookout for dolphin pods that frequent the waters nearby. Be sure to stop by the Fingal Head Lighthouse on the headland.

5

Duranbah Beach

Located on the northern end of the New South Wales coastline, Duranbah Beach is a surfer's sanctuary. Colloquially referred to as 'D'Bah' by locals, the beach boasts a fantastic swell, making it one of the top surfing spots along the Tweed Coast. During the day, particularly in summer, the beach jumps to life with surfers, families and other travellers exploring its environs. For a dazzling sight, set your alarm and rise early to catch a beautiful, idyllic sunrise on the Tweed Coast.

6

Pottsville Beach

Pottsville is yet another secluded, tranquil stretch of coast located on the southern end of Tweed Coast. Its vast sandy shores and somewhat distant location guarantees a crowd-free beach escape, perfect for soaking in the sun, gazing at the glistening blue ocean or taking a leisurely stroll. Go body surfing or consider fishing at this unspoiled beach.
