Must visit tourist attractions in Melbourne – Do not miss out in Melbourne

As one of the world's most liveable cities, Melbourne offers all those who enter its domain access to world-class amenities, entertainment as well as a glimpse into the history that forged this modern city. Having a rough itinerary is a way to ensure that you enjoy the best sights!

1

Head over to the Eureka Skydeck 88

The Eureka Skydeck 88 may just about have been the tallest building in Melbourne for much of its existence before it was dethroned. But, standing at roughly 297 metres tall, there is still the special status that the structure can be proud of as the third tallest building in the country.
A visit to the Eureka Skydeck 88 will have you catapulted to the 88th floor, where you will be greeted with a full 360 degrees view of the landscapes around you. If you feel a bit adventurous or simply a natural thrill seeker, simply step on the Edge. The Edge is the name given to the three-metre glass cube that will hold you up in the sky. If you tend to fear heights, it would be best to avoid this altogether!
From this viewpoint, you might even be able to see several major hotel chains such as the Minor Hotels.

The ever-popular MCG

If you are a fan of the Australian sports scene, even an occasional fan, you will surely have heard of the MCG. This stunning establishment was initiated back in 1853 by the Melbourne Cricket Club. It is now fondly referred to by locals as the 'G' and is considered the base for Australian sport and one of the most sacred places in the realm of the AFL.

It currently holds a seating capacity that can fit close to 100,000 people and is generally accepted as the most significant sporting facility in the southern hemisphere. In addition, to be an essential part of sporting culture in Australia, the MCG also holds the National Sports Museum.

Enter the Old Melbourne Gaol

This artefact of the past is once where Victoria's most notorious criminals and vagrants were imprisoned and executed. It was the final home to individuals such as the bushranger Ned Kelly and the Jack the Ripper suspect by the name of Frederick Bailey Deeming.

It is now a somewhat macabre tribute to the many deaths and the means of death housed within this establishment.

4

Check out the Melbourne Museum

This stunning complex is found in the Carlton Gardens. It is considered to be the largest museum in the southern hemisphere. When you enter, the size and scale will leave you amazed as you find yourself wandering past massive dinosaurs, learning about the history of the city and the background of the native Bunjilaka Aboriginals.

Do not miss out on Captain Cook's Cottage

This is, without doubt, the oldest building in Australia; this building was the home of the explorer Captain Cook's parents. While he was born and raised in England, in 1934, his house was deconstructed, shipped to Australia, and reassembled to spend the rest of its days in Fitzroy Gardens.
