5 Exciting Things to Do in Mirissa for An Exciting Tropical Vacay – An adventure always awaits those who seek it!

Life in Sri Lanka is certainly well known for the relaxation and sandy shores it offers those who visit. In this regard, Mirissa stands near the precipice of places that travellers flock to bask in all the joys of coastal life.

1

Retreat to the beach and all it offers

Undoubtedly, one of the first things that people do when they visit the small town of Mirissa is checking into their accommodation and taking the generally short walk to the beach.
This beach is remarkable for many reasons. One of the main aspects that leave people enamoured with the Sri Lankan coastlines is the stunning harmony between the azure blue ocean and the lush spread of greenery that surrounds it.
Here the world fades away into a dull buzz, and all you need is a cool beer in your hands and a few friends for company. The sounds of the waves and the smell of the ocean will hypnotize you so that you will never want to leave.
A good piece of advice would be to bring a book, shades, a big hat and sunscreen to stay on the beach for a while.

2

Climbing to the top of Parrot Rock

Another popular destination along the coastline is a crag that is referred to as 'Parrot Rock'. Considered one of the most stunning places on the beach, many people will endure the brisk walk to the rock to catch the sunsets that are so well known here. These sunsets are the kind that dreams are made of with a burst of colour that seems to turn the whole world into a blaze of fire.
If you feel up to it, you can also hike up the rough stairs to the top of the cliff and take a look at the views that surround you.

3

Go whale and dolphin watching

There is nothing quite like the first time witnessing a group of dolphins breaching the surface of the ocean. Nor is there a more profound sense than the understanding that one of the worlds largest creatures are just a little distance from your boat. Whale watching is a hugely popular activity and the ideal time to visit is between December and March.

4

Try some snorkelling

Head over to Turtle Bay to enjoy some of the best snorkelling experiences in Mirissa. Here you can enjoy the low tide to give you the clarity needed to really enjoy the corals and aquatic life under the ocean. If you are staying in one of the villas in Mirissa, such as the Sri Sharavi Beach Villas & Spa, be sure to get some information from the staff on how to best embark on your snorkelling adventure.

5

Have you tried surfing?

Surfing may be the most often used reason to spend some time near Mirissa. It is easy to see why, with plenty of training schools for beginners and a nonstop flow of good waves. Many people will wake up in the early hours of the day and embark at the break of dawn to catch the best waves of the day. It is hard to resist the clear blue water of Mirissa and should be on everyone's itineraries.
