11 Simple Steps to Create Layout for V Shape Mugs and Other Conical Products Without Using Trigonometry Formulas

We've seen a lot of images in the internet where latte mugs are printed the wrong way. Some mug printers also tried to make their own template but having difficulties to incorporate their design in their template. This guide will help you make printing on V shape mugs easier and this solution is applicable in all conical products without using trigonometric formulas.

1

Wrap paper on mug and mark

Get an appropriate size of paper that can wrap the surface of the V shape mug completely. Use pen to mark the paper with the line at the top and bottom of the mug. Make sure to make way for the handle and mark also the line along the handle.

2

Cut the paper along the mark

Make sure to cut the lines exactly. Also make sure that point A and B will meet without gap and no overlapping. Cutting of space for handle don't need to be precise and not needed in creating the template.

3

Measure the width of the bottom and the overall height

Measure accurately the width of the bottom in straight line. Also, measure the height by folding the paper as a guide. In measuring the height, start on the imaginary line at the bottom. Use millimeter (mm) in measuring these distances.

Use millimeter in measuring the following distances shown in the image above. To make it more accurate, round off your measurements to the nearest half millimeter (0.5mm). Using Adobe Photoshop, create file using these measurements with a resolution of 450-600 ppi.
