05 Most Beautiful Public Parks in Singapore – The best green spots

Everyone needs a break once in awhile and that's probably the reason you are even planning a vacation to Singapore right now. When you visit, if you feel like you just need to get away from the buildings and air conditions for some fresh air, here's where you should be heading.

1

Singapore Botanic Gardens

This is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Singapore and the best part is that it is the country's very own UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is the largest collection of orchids in the world which also happens to be the national flower of Singapore (Vanda Miss Joaquim). It was established way back on 1852 and today is one of the most perfect locations for those seeking respite from the city atmosphere. Inside it a stunning swan lake and greenery setting the perfect atmosphere for a lovely relaxing picnic.

2

Bukit Batok Nature Park

Located close to hotels in Serangoon Road Singapore, this park was set up in 1988 in what was once an abandoned quarry. The park today consists of pathways that have been created for jogging and cycling. There are hiking trails as well – but don't worry, they are quite simple and not tiring. You can follow one of the trails and reach one of the many amazing viewpoints for breath-taking vistas of the quarry below. If you want to know a bit of history, head towards the monument set up in memory of the fiercest battle that took place in Singapore during WWII.

3

The Learning Forest

This is a bit of an extension from the Botanic Gardens that reach far and wide into the 6 hectares of forest that already exists. But what sets The Learning Forest apart from the rest is that it is a little more rustic and has been divided into various sections. Wetlands, the bamboo garden, the arboretum of wild fruit trees and much more. There is so much to explore if you want to do more than just relax when you are in the presence of nature!

4

Gardens by the Bay

Now what would this list be without a mention of the most iconic of all gardens, the Gardens by the Bay which is easily accessible even from hotels like Park Hotel Farrer Park. The supertrees are the main highlight of the outside part of the gardens, but don't stop there, there's still so much to explore. You'll come across the largest greenhouse you could ever imagine, a wonderful man-made waterfall, a skywalk and artificially controlled environments that keep changing your expereince. The best part? Most of the attractions here are absolutely free!

5

Fort Canning Park

If you are travelling with family, this is an awesome place to visit. The kids are free to run about and tumble in the green while you explore the little specs of colonial charm still left behind in Singapore. You will also be able to learn more about the times in Singapore before the British had a chance to arrive and take over the country.
