Main attractions in Doha – places to visit in Doha

With a golden sea of sand on one side and cerulean waters on the other, Qatar is an amazing destination with many things to do despite its very futuristic, urban façade. Here are a few attractions you cannot miss out on when you holiday here.

1

The Pearl Qatar

Located in the luxurious West Bay of Doha, The Pearl is a man-made island. On this island are lavish residential towers, a marina filled with the most luxurious yachts, and the best hotels in Doha. There is so much to experience here and it definitely isn't cheap! The island also boasts some amazing shopping malls as well that offer some of the best brands out there. The experience on the island also includes modern dining options from fine dining at classy restaurants to cafes and stalls serving ice creams. If you want to relax, the islands also offer beautiful gardens for a relaxing stroll.

Souq Waqif Market

Situated in a central location within easy reach from many hotels, Souq Waqif Market is one of the best places to observe the locals. This ancient concept of a market has existed since ancient times in the Middle East and has been famed for the Arabian spices, perfumes, lavish carpets and gold and other jewellery. Walk through the pathways and lined on either side are restaurants, cafes and boutiques for you to hop into and check out. Keep your eyes open for a few cultural performances here and there as well.

The Museum of Islamic Art

If you love history and art as much as the locals do, then the Museum Of Art in Doha also called MIA is the place to be. This building includes 5-storeys of archaic artefacts that go as far back as the 7th century and lead up to the 19th century. If you aren't all that interested in what lies indoors, try the massive garden outside with plenty of play area for kids as well. Marvelling at the structure of the building from the outside is just as wonderful too!

4

Katara Cultural Village

It is evident in the design of Qatar that art is something held very dear to the locals. Katara Cultural Village has all the proof you need. Despite the name "village", upon entering you will see that the place is quite exquisite with well-defined architecture and spotless walls and floors. Beyond the exterior walls are a number of event venues and art galleries. There is even a theatre and a film centre to inspire the youngsters to dive into the filmmaking industry as well. Exhibitions are also held here.
