Things to Do in Paramatta with kids - A kid-friendly itinerary!

There are many activities for families in Parramatta, including exploring history & culture, wildlife, sports, and food! Let's take a quick look at how you can spend a family vacation here!

1

Eat street

Eat Street in Parramatta is lined with cafés and eateries. Simply walk along Church Street located between the Parramatta River and Philip Street and you'll be overwhelmed by the options. Also, don't forget that higher up Church Street, there are additional cafes and restaurants. You will never go hungry here!

2

Water plays and cafes at the Centenary Square

There's a wide square at Church Street that you cross normally to head to the Station and also to Westfields. And it's also a great spot to bring the kids. On what is essentially an Italian-style piazza, there seem to be various cafes. There is a table tennis table, water play fountains, and a massive chess set, as well as some epic food trucks.

3

Elizabeth Farm

Elizabeth farm, stashed in a suburban enclave, is Australia's oldest remaining homestead. It was erected in 1793 for both John and Elizabeth Macarthur and then expanded over the years to become a lovely colonial home. All sections, including the garden, are open to the public and are planted as they were in the 1830s. During the school holidays, there are children's activities available.

Family Walks

There are two extremely beautiful treks in Parramatta. The first is in and around the well-known Parramatta Park; if you're staying at a central hotel in Parramatta Sydney you can reach the park easily. A short walk down the Parramatta River is the second best option. You might extend your stroll by taking the walkway on the northern side of the Paramatta river right under the famous Lennox Bridge, then past the Riverside Theatre, and back into the Parramatta Park. For accommodation close to the park, you can check out properties like PARKROYAL Parramatta.

5

Paramatta Playgrounds

In Parramatta, there are several outstanding children's playgrounds, the most notable of which is the Domain Creek playground in Parramatta Park. It is particularly suitable for older and more daring children. The Parramatta River Foreshore Playground is relatively small, but this is still a lot of fun, with a great slide as well as some unique equipment. If you walk down the river, you won't be able to miss it.

6

Cycling to Explore

There are many biking paths in and around Parramatta and the majority of them are very flat, making them ideal for younger children. There is a cycle and walking pathway in Parramatta Park. The cycleway that runs alongside the beautiful Parramatta River is also a pedestrian walkway. You will be able to cycle or walk to the Sydney Olympic Park if you take this route!

7

Swimming

Meanwhile, in the summer, take a plunge at Lake Parramatta, which is only a short distance away from the city centre. In the summer months, there are lifeguards on duty. However, you can pretty much go there anytime you want to spend some quality family time!
