5 Tips When Visiting the Burj Khalifa in Dubai - 5 Travel Guidelines for Making the Most of Your Tour of the Burj Khalif

Measuring in at twice the height of the Empire State Building and three times taller than Paris' Eiffel Tower, the Burj Khalifa is a marvel for the ages. Here are 5 tips for every traveller who intends to tour this iconic structure in Dubai.

1

Reaching the Top

Getting to the observation deck on the 124th level of the building is surprisingly easy and speedy. Take the elevator on the ground floor straight to the 124th floor where one can gaze upon Dubai from a height of 452m. This is not the observation area on the Burj Khalifa, but it is the first one that visitors will encounter; it includes a terrace area as well. The 124th floor's deck, however, does not offer 360-degree views of the city; one must go up to the 125th floor to witness what is known as the "Dubai – A Falcon's Eye View." This is where travellers can snap a photo in front of a green screen and enjoy a virtual reality game where the observation deck's glass floor collapses underneath you.

2

The Highest Observation Point

Those who wish to feel like they are truly on top of the world should head up to the highest observation point on the 148th floor. Located a staggering 555m above the city, one can easily get lost in the panoramic views available from this vaulted vantage point. Surprisingly enough, this floor happens to be the least crowded observation deck as most visitors do not venture past the 125th floor; so, tourists in search of an uncongested and tranquil viewing experience should just buy an At the Top SKY ticket and be done with it. This tour not only includes access to the luxurious lounge area but also interactive games where motion sensors allow travellers to visit various corners of the country.

3

Timing is Everything

The Burj Khalifa is not open to visitors all day long and there are two times of the day in which the venue welcomes travellers. The Prime Hours fall between 3 pm and 6 pm when one can witness the sunset while the Non-Prime Hours are between 8.30 am and 2.30 pm and 7 pm to 11 pm. The prime and non-prime hours also differ for each observation deck as the prime hour for the 124th floor is between 4 pm and 6 pm. Those who are visiting from overseas would be wise to purchase skip-the-line tickets beforehand as these are available online and allow one to enter the building upon arrival.

4

What You Can Bring

Those who have secured accommodation at Avani Deira Dubai Hotel and similar resorts should ideally check-in before they visit the Burj Khalifa as large suitcases and luggage are not allowed inside the building. Although visiting Burj Khalifa is one of the top things to do in Deira Dubai, it is better to wait until one has deposited any heavy pieces of luggage at the hotel.

5

Two in One

The Burj Khalifa can only be accessed from the interior of the Dubai Mall so visitor can schedule their tour of the building on the same day as a shopping spree at the mall to save time.
