Singapore is a foodie's paradise, with a wide range of cuisines to choose from. You won't find anything like this somewhere else on the planet. Continue reading to learn more about Singapore's street food culture.

1

Frog Porridge

This could turn you off, and why wouldn't it? It's named frog porridge. Having said all that, it's one of Singapore's most popular dishes. You need not have to be concerned about hygienic issues because it's also really clean. All that you have to do now is get the courage to try it. It's possible that this will become your new favourite street food meal. Frogs are marinated in spring onions, some wine, and also soy to make frog porridge. For extra flavour, ginger and hot chillies are used. The frogs are cooked perfectly, and the meat is exceptionally tender and flavourful.

2

Bak Kut Teh

This is a Chinese dish that originated with the Hokkien people. The Bak kut teh, which loosely translates to "meat bone tea," is a popular street food dish here. Furthermore, believe it or not, it has become mythologised. There are numerous fascinating stories about how it came to be. While you eat your Bak kut teh, the vendors can entertain you with amazing stories. The meal consists of delicate pork ribs that have been simmered for several hours in a thick broth. Furthermore, if you want to sample buffet styled eating with authentic food, you can always reserve seats at restaurants in properties like PARKROYAL On Kitchener Road Singapore. You may also want to check out suites in Singapore if you would like comfortable accommodation.

3

Sambal Stingray

The Ikan Bakar is how the locals refer to this meal. People used to dismiss stingray meat as flavourless for years until it was created. A local Malay community member was startled by a realisation one day. To improve the flavour, he sprinkled the ever so delicious spicy sambal sauce. Shortly after, this dish became a famous Singaporean street food creation. No one thought of stingrays as flavourless fish any longer. It became a popular local street food! This meat is enveloped in banana leaves and grilled, enabling all of the natural flavours to come through.

4

Mud Crab

When considering mud crab, there are 2 options available. You can choose between chilli crab and pepper crab. Both are great, and the only difference is how hot you like it to be. The whole crab is retrieved and then stir-fried in a spicy tomato sauce or in the latter black pepper. The chilli recipe, on the other hand, is more original, having been identified in 1956. Due to increased demand, the pepper crab variants arrived a year later, in 1959. Try out both versions and decide which one you prefer.

5

Red Snapper Head Curry

Red snapper head curry is yet another popular seafood curry in Singapore. This dish is a must-try when visiting Asia. This meal represents Singapore's diverse cultures and ethnicities. The fish head is quite flavourful and crispy, and it blends beautifully in sauces. The Indian vendors are the location to go if you want to experience the spicier variants of this meal.
