Sights to Not Miss in Dhaka - From palaces, mosques to forts!

Here is a list of the places in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, that you must visit if you would like to appreciate the inherent charm of this vibrant metropolis.

1

Sonargaon

Sonargaon, a hilltop town in Bengal, is among the state's oldest capitals, with a rich history spanning Mughal, Hindu, and British control. While walking down the streets, visitors can witness remnants of this varied past, where ancient remains of a rich history contrast with more modern European constructions. A traditional rickshaw can be used to visit the towns and villages that form this lovely location. Visitors will be taken to some of the area's most important landmarks, such as the Sultan Ghiyasuddin Azam Shah's Tomb, Goaldi Mosque, and also the Shiva Shrine.

2

Ahsan Manzil ( The Pink Palace)

This grand building, which was once the former home of the Nawab family, was constructed in the mid-to-late nineteenth century. After a storm struck in 1888, this magnificent palace was devastated and abandoned. Khwaja Abdul Gani and his son laboured tirelessly to resuscitate and repair facilities considered too dangerous to occupy, resulting in the establishment of what is now known today as the national museum. If you would like to stay at a fine establishment when in Dhaka, you can check out hotels in Dhaka that boast beautiful ambience. For instance, properties like Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka are known to offer their guests a splendid stay.

3

Lalbagh Fort

Visitors who want to appreciate the Mughal Empire's splendour and stoicism can do so by visiting the Lal-bagh Fort (Fort Aurangabad). Constructed in 1677, this magnificent structure was never finished due to the builder's daughter's untimely death, which was thought to be bad luck. It serves as a striking reminder of the history of Old Dhaka. A magnificent façade and a small reflecting pool provide a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of the old city. Visitors can stroll around the tranquil gardens, which also include the famous Pari Bibi's Mausoleum, the magnificent Audience Hall, and the lovely Quilla Mosque. You can also explore the spectacular museum, which has relics from the Mughal Empire.

4

Star Mosque (Tara Masjid)

Whereas most people are only used to viewing stars in the night skies, a trip to Star Mosque, also known as the Tara Masjid by the locals here, is replete with celestial vistas. The exterior and interior of this beautiful mosque, which was erected in the first part of the nineteenth century, are decorated in hundreds of brilliant mosaic stars. And this is how the mosque got its name too. At the front of the mosque's stunning facade, a beautiful reflecting pool surrounds a huge white star. Almost a dozen archways lead visitors and worshippers alike to the famed religious structure's gorgeous white marbled domes, which are sure to be a highlight of a visit here!

5

Sadarghat Port

This busy river port in Dhaka's core is among the world's biggest of its sort. Every hour, about 500 pas-sengers come at the pier and proceed through the varied streets that greet the port. Tourists can enter the port, where photographers say they can spend an entire day photographing the multitudes of small and large ships that pass through the area's waterways. Adventurers can rent a paddleboat and enjoy a voyage across the Buriganga River's black waters.
