For a fascinating insight into Qatar's history and culture, make your way to Al Zubarah Fort where you will also find several other archaeological projects. Whilst some of these archaeological remnants belong to the 1700s, interestingly, the fort itself happens to be considerably younger, dating to 1938. You will see that this fort looks over the town known as Al Zubarah; two centuries ago, this town was a busy pearl fishing settlement that merchants from different parts of the world frequented. Although this town has been abandoned, it still presents an interesting and charming sight for the visitor.
