The biggest statue in the country, the Bahiravokanda Vihara Buddha Statue is another popular attraction in the city. Sitting within a mountain range, the statue is visited by both locals and tourists. You can get to the site by motorbike or car; to get to the top, you have to climb up a staircase. It may not be the easiest climb, but you'll be rewarded with amazing panoramic views of the mountains.
If you have more time left, make a day trip to Sigiriya. Also called Lion's Rock, Sigiriya is located three hours away from Kandy. This is a historically important site in Sri Lanka and recognized by UNESCO for its archaeological importance. Getting to the summit involves rather a difficult hike, but the scenery offered at the top makes it worthwhile.
