6 Must do things in Bali, Indonesia – Ideas for your Bali itinerary

Bali is one of Indonesia's most popular islands; it's one package of history, culture, delicious food and nature. A vacation in Bali is filled with equal parts of fun, excitement and infuriation.

1

Bali

Bali awakens the senses. The tropical air of the island is infused with incense fragrance and the delightful smell of peanuts. The main tourist zones of the island are clamorous and chaotic, but the rest of the island is saturated in natural beauty. Bali offers attractions for every type of tourist. The forested volcanic peaks invite the hikers, the beaches are a draw for surfers, and cyclists love the lush green pathways. Accommodation in Bali is praiseworthy as well; the likes of Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali aren't hard to find.

2

Pura Tanah Lot

Located approximately 20 kilometres away from Kuta, Pura Tanah Lot is one of the most iconic religious sites in Bali. Its location is the most amazing part of the temple; the temple sits atop a hill surrounded by the sea. For the locals, Pura Tanah Lot has a lot of significance. The temple is visited by throngs of people who want to see the sunset behind the temple. Foreigners aren't allowed inside the temple; however, you can walk around the pathways taking pictures of the spectacular scenery. Getting here from any Kuta beach resort is easy.

3

Mount Batur

In the morning, hundreds of visitors start to climb up their way to the apex of Mount Batur to watch the sunrise. Mount Batur is one of the most picturesque places in all of Indonesia. This active volcano is found in the island's central highlands. From Ubud, it is only an hour's drive, and the trek-up to the mountain peak has always been on the list of Bali things to do. The hike is comparatively easy and takes about three hours to complete. If you choose a guided trek, you'll be treated to a delightful breakfast with eggs made using the steam of the volcano. If you are here on a clear day, you'll be able to see all across the mountain range.

4

Ubud Monkey Forest

It takes only 10 minutes to get here from Ubud. Also called the Sacred Monkey Forest, Ubud Monkey Forest is one of the top attractions in Bali. For those who love animals, Ubud Monkey Forest is a thing worth visiting. The troops of macaques are the main highlight here; however, the jungle is an appealing part of any tour. There are numerous pathways that lead through the forest, and alongside, you'll find a number of ancient temples. The lush greenery and dense foliage coupled with the temples give it an otherworldly feel.

5

Shopping

The island is known for its many shopping opportunities. The streets of Seminyak are lined with Bali designers selling a huge variety of things, including clothes, jewellery and swimwear; you can also buy homeware and furniture here. For the ultimate Bali shopping experience, shop at the boutique stores, but you can also find two shopping malls here.

6

Nusa Dua Beach

If you find Bali a little too touristy, you can visit Nusa Dua Beach. Ideal for sunbathing, the beach has comfortable loungers and stalls selling refreshing drinks. Lounging isn't the only pastime here; you can also try your hand at surfing and parasailing. If you are worn out, you can pop into one of the eateries and order a drink along with some delicious snacks.

7

The Nusa Islands

Those who are tired of constantly being around crowds should visit the Nusa Islands. The natural beauty of these islands is reason enough to visit, but you can try snorkelling, surfing, diving, and kayaking here as well.
