The Maldives is a collection of more than a thousand islands and the most prominent feature of this archipelago is the crystal-clear waters that surround it. Leaving aside the almost absurdly luxurious resorts on the islands, there is still so much to do here.

Swimming with whale sharks

Whale sharks are the gentle giants of the sea and the fact that you get to witness them in their natural habitat when you holiday in Maldives is quite amazing isn't it? If you are aiming to see these creatures on your holiday, you might have to do some research on which areas are best to go to in order to catch a swim with them. the adult whale sharks are about 12 metres long. They may seem a little scary if this is your first time, but there is no need to worry as these creatures do not pose a threat to humans. So, go ahead and just enjoy the experience.

If you want to feel like you've truly grown wings and are flying off into freedom, Maldives can help you with that experience! Windsurfing is quite common when it comes to Maldives water sports. Now, this is yet another exhilarating experience that awaits the adventurous traveller. Check with your resort and sign up for an experience of a lifetime on a sea safari. This excursion includes hopping on a boat and setting offer further towards the bluer part of the ocean. No sooner you reach the dolphin territory, you'll find that these friendly creatures slowly begin to make their appearance. They absolutely enjoy putting on a show for the human spectators on the boat with their backflips and twirls. If you are lucky enough, you might even witness a whale shark resurfacing for a long breath of oxygen before hiding under the water once again.
