40th Anniversary: The greatest post-disco hits of 1981 - From A to Z!!

From A to Z - from “A Little Bit Of Jazz” to “Zulu” and more than a hundred songs in between - boy have I got the ultimate post-disco countdown for you…and it’s all about 1981!

Disco’s rapid demise had been underway for two years by mid-1981, but it was arguably in 1981 when the genre hit its nadir, and from its mainstream ashes emerged some of the best dance and disco music of the 1980s (and beyond).

It’s with this in mind that djrobblog.com is celebrating the 40th anniversary of what we consider the first true year of the post-disco era - 1981 - with a special playlist of the 100-plus greatest post-disco songs of that year.

The songs are presented in the following list with YouTube links - to either audio or video clips - included. I hope you enjoy getting your post-disco groove on…let the music begin!

Hi, I'm DJ Rob, owner and author of the music blogsite djrobblog.com. I live in Chicago, IL and have been doing the blogsite since January 2015. It features articles about music news, history and trivia - both old and new. The features I enjoy doing the most are my djroblists. I've done dozens of lists ranking everything from blue-eyed soul singers to Prince's greatest songs. I only recently started converting them to listly to increase interaction with my readers. Take some time to enjoy them and let me know what you think! And check out djrobblog.com when you can!
