10 Tips to Make the Most of Your Trip to Universal Studios Singapore – Quality time with family and friends

For those visiting Singapore with their kids, Universal Studios Singapore is a must-visit. The amusement park is located on Sentosa Island and has seven different zones.

1

Book your tickets

It's best to book your tickets before you visit. While it is only a 17-minute drive from Grand Park Orchard and you can easily buy the ticket when you visit, you might get a discount if you book online. You need to be cautious when purchasing your tickets online; only a few third parties are allowed to sell Universal Studios Singapore tickets.

2

Best time to visit

It is true that Universal Studios Singapore is only a short drive from Orchard Road hotels and can be visited any time, but be warned, if you choose to go on a weekend, the place tends to get quite crowded. Weekends are a busy time, and so are public holidays. If you want to enjoy the park's attractions without any rush, choose to visit on a weekday. Also, check the park's website for the opening time.

3

Getting to the park

The best way to get here is by MRT. Those travelling from outside Sentosa can take the MRT and get off at HarbourFront MRT Station. From there, you have a few choices – you can take a leisurely stroll on the boardwalk by the oceanfront, travel by cable car at HarbourFront Centre or hop onto Monorail at VivoCity Mall on Level 3.

4

What to wear

It's going to be very hot and humid at the park, so it's best to avoid any heavy clothing. Pack some light, breathable clothes that cover your arms, back, and legs to protect your skin. Leggings or shorts are preferable as sitting astride is going to be awkward and uncomfortable while wearing skirts. You need a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses to further protect yourself from the burning sun rays. Flip-flops are the ideal choice of footwear, or you can bring waterproof shoes that are easy to take off.

5

What to bring

Needless to say, you are going to need plenty of water. Sunscreen is the other essential item you need to have in your bag. You will also need a camera to capture all the merry moments you'll be sharing with your family.

6

Pick up the daily programme at the entrance

The list will detail all the performances and activities you are offered during the day. This will help you plan your day and avoid the things you don't want to spend time on. The best time to be at the park is after the sun goes down. This is when the park illuminates with multi-coloured lights. If you happen to be at the studio in the evening, be sure to find a spot near the lake so that you can appreciate the fireworks.

7

Queuing

This would be the only bad thing about the park. Queuing in the sweltering heat is no fun, especially if you are with kids. To make it bearable, you can follow a few guidelines. Always visit right when the park opens. Choose a weekday to visit so that you won't have to contend with a large crowd. If you don't mind the price, Express Pass is the best option.

8

Ancient Egypt zone

Here, the best ride is the Treasure Hunter, especially for kids. Keep in mind that the ride is loved by everyone, and the queue tends to be very long, so make it the first activity on your list.

9

Lost World

Canopy Flyer is the best ride in Lost World. This zone opens at 11 am, so be ready to get there as soon as it opens.

10

Heading out and coming out

The pass is valid for the whole day. So, if time allows it, you can go to your hotel and come back.
