Top Things to Do in Dhaka – Grab the best memories

The capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka, is indeed a great city that you need to visit at least once in your lifetime. It's chaotic, messy, and densely populated, but it'll never fail to delight you with its things to see and do.

1

Take a rickshaw ride

Did you know that Dhaka is the Rickshaw city in Bangladesh? Head to the street to go somewhere from the 5-star hotel at which you're staying such as Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, and you'll find hundreds of rickshaws coming towards you offering you a ride. Some main streets have banned rickshaw entrances, but they rule the small streets. They are great to get around the city, and of course, offer the fastest method to explore Dhaka.

2

Take a boat ride

If you get the chance to head to Old Dhaka (the southern part of the city), do not miss out on a boat ride at the river Buriganga. Don't expect this river to be calm and quiet because all sorts of passenger boats, small engine boats, and cargo boats use the river day and night. Say yes to a boat ride for an amazing experience. Head to where the city actually ends!

3

Biriyani!

Dhaka has the best versions of Biriyani and there's no doubt of it. Locals love eating Biriyani for all meals throughout the day, and they never get bored of it, quite surprisingly. Mughals were once a main part of Dhaka, and it's believed Biriyani traditions also came along with them. You don't specifically need to head to hotels in Dhaka to have the best Biriyani experiences, even the small Biriyani spots (small shops) will be able to delight your taste buds.

4

Enjoy tea

You may enjoy all the world-class tea brands during your hotel stay, but do not underestimate the taste of Dhaka street tea as well. Locals love drinking tea no matter what time of the day it is, and you may also act like a local when you are there. You'll find many street stalls while you head out for shopping or sightseeing, so you just need to give it a try. Grab a snack from the same stall if you like.

5

Shop like a local

Needless to say, Bangladesh is one of the top garment producers in the world. So, when in Dhaka, allocate time from your schedule to shop for quality T-shirts, shirts, and jeans. They are good in quality, plus affordable when it comes to prices. Head to the New Market in Dhaka for a memorable shopping spree.

6

Explore the streets

Dhaka (especially the Old Dhaka) has a good number of amazing streets. The Hindu Street, Begum Bazar, Bongshal Road, and Chawk Bazar are some of these very interesting streets in Dhaka, and you'll love them more if you are into photography.

7

Eat like a local

Dhaka is not just about the most delicious versions of Biriyani. It's about so much more. Head to a local restaurant and enjoy plain rice with different varieties of curries (including lentils). Eat with your right hand and you'll find it much more interesting than using utensils.
