Gallery Walk Curated Resources

Here is a list of resources to help 8th grade Georgia History students conquer Inquiry-based Learning assignments. In this unit, students will be responsible for participating in an online, interactive gallery walk, creating an adventure story using Google Forms, and answering a Data-Based Question. The resources within this list will help you analyze the colonial period of Georgia's history.

A Georgia History Podcast – The Founding of Savannah

This podcast discusses the Founding of Savannah and key figures in its establishment. It also discusses other colonial establishments, such as Spanish Missions. This resource is important because it differentiates the content for the auditory learners in the class. To listen to the podcast, you must "like" the video and download the app "Stitcher" on your phone. Then, go to your "likes" and review the "Founding of Savannah. You may incorporate the information from the podcast into our Gallery Walk activity.

Battle of Bloody Marsh

This online article describes the Battle of Bloody Marsh. If you remember, one of the reasons Georgia was established was for defense against the Spanish. This event in Georgia history is an early accomplishment of the state. You will need to use this document to answer the Data-Based Question: Based on the Reasons for Settlement, as Stated in the Charter of 1732, Was the Georgia Colony a Success or Failure?

This is a primary document called the Charter of 1732. The Charter of 1732 explains the 3 reasons Georgia was established. It also gave James Oglethorpe and the other Trustees permission to create the colony.
