Top 5 water sports non-swimmers can enjoy in the Maldives

Despite the Maldives is a water lovers paradise, you need not be an expert swimmer to get in on the fun. Here are a few ways to enjoy the gorgeous and pristine beaches in the Maldives.

1

Kayaking

Kayaking will allow you to paddle around and soak in the beaches, palm trees and experience the island at your own pace. It is a fun activity and a good way to get a mini-workout to keep you in shape while holidaying. Resorts will organise a kayak for you, and some even have transparent bottomed kayaks to see what's happening in the ocean beneath you. Use basic precautions such as wearing a life jacket, and protect yourself from the harsh sun by wearing sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. A few basic swimming skills will be desirable but not mandatory. As long you don't venture too far coast guards will be able to spot any danger.

2

Glass bottom boat rides

If you want to see what's happening in the ocean beneath you while taking a relaxing boat ride this might be just the activity for you. These boats are equipped with comfortable seating and the clear glass panel beneath the boat will bring colourful marine life such as fish and corals right to your feet. Some packages end the excursion with a cooked lunch for the guests on the beach itself. This might be the ideal adventure for those who don't know how to swim but want to experience sea life up close. Boat ride packages will be arranged by your accommodation upon request.

3

Underwater walking

Under Water Walking is the next best thing to snorkelling. You will get the opportunity to walk on the sea bed and feel the ocean floor for yourself. This is one way to see the wonders of marine life, up close and personal. You will have to wear a transparent oxygen mask, to allow you to breathe under the sea. It is very reliable and an instructor will be present in case of any emergency. There is absolutely no swimming involved at all!

4

Jet skiing

The rush, excitement and the stunning waters of Maldives, what a fantastic combination! And the best thing of all is swimming is not a mandatory skill. Jet skiing is among the most prevalent water sports in the Maldives. All you have to do is wear a life jacket and be mindful. The coast guards on the Maldives Island Resorts are constantly on the alarm. You call fall without fear, as the life jacket will help to keep you afloat. However, do read up on the basic safety precautions and arm signals that are necessary for jet skiers.

5

Banana boat rides

Would you like to sail in a boat in the appearance of a banana? Well, if that sounds fun this might be something you would like to do. Once you hop on the banana boat, you are securely fastened to it, to prevent any falls. You can go on an amusing ride on the gentle waves of the ocean with your friends and loved ones. You can try all these in many of the resorts, such as in Naladhu Private Island Maldives.
