6 Magical things to do in Broome – Let’s get started on planning your day!

Located in western Australia's Kimberly region, Broome is a famous beach resort town with a lot of offer. Together with its gorgeous blue waters, shiny white sand and jaw dropping sunsets, here's a list of magical things you can do while you are there.

Horizontal Falls

For a wild experience, go on a Horizontal Falls tour which includes a visit to the famous Horizontal falls via a fast boat, a flight over the scenic falls and over the Buccaneer Archipelago. This spot is thought to be over 1.8 billion years old, with thousands of visitors dropping by to witness this beauty.

Broome Bird Observatory

This one's for all the bird enthusiasts visiting Broome! This observatory was established in 1988, along the shored of Roebuck Bay. This observatory is dedicated mainly to migratory shorebird activities, along the East Asian-Australian Flyway between August and October. You'll witness birds after a non-stop 10,000 kilometre journey! Apart from said months, in between March and April there are plenty of birds to look out for both in and outside of the observatory. To spot birds, the observatory is open from Monday to Sunday from 8 AM to 4 PM. Just 25 minutes away from Oaks Cable Beach Resort and other similar Broome hotels.

Cable Beach

Are you looking for a beach that's right out of a holiday magazine? Nothing will top Cable Bach, which is a 22 kilometre stretch of white sand and beautiful views. At the northern end of the beach, there are numerous sunrise and sunset camel rides available! The southern end of the beach leads you to Gantheaume Point. The beach is truly stunning, accompanied by low cliffs of red ochre – making it a memorable sight to see!

Gantheaume Point

At the southern end of Cable Beach, you'll find Gantheaume Point – where you can discover dinosaur footprints estimated to be up to 130 million years old! Renowned for being one of the world's best paleontological sites – you can view these footprints at low tide. Apart from the dinosaur footprints, you can also observe whales and dolphins migration from the lighthouse!

Sun picture gardens

If you're up for doing something a little different, Sun Picture gardens is the oldest out door cinema that is still in operation, built all the way back in 1913. This experience provides a unique evening in Broome, and they screen multiple films each night, under the stars and on the grass! Make sure you get yourself some popcorn and ice cream before the movie begins for the classic cinema experience.

Japanese Cemetery

Broome's Japanese Cemetery is the largest of its kind to be found in Australia, with the first recorded burial having happen in 1896. You will witness the close ties between Japan and Broome in the early 20th century that were established. There's 707 graves with 919 people buried within, and although this is far from magical, it will most definitely be a memorable thing to do.
