Based in Pirbright, 2nd Battalion Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment is a Specialised Infantry Battalion, part of the Specialised Infantry Group. Our Specialised Infantry soldiers and officers are mature, selected volunteers. They prioritise cultural understanding and empathy to enable them to operate successfully, increasing the Army’s contribution to countering terrorism and building stability overseas.
1st Battalion Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment is trained to fight on foot but able to operate in all terrains and against any challenge, our Kingsmen are the core of the Army’s Ground Close Combat capability.

4th Battalion Lancaster Regiment is a Light Role Reserve Battalion based throughout the North West of England. It has a dismounted close combat role and provides trained manpower to the Regular battalions. It undertakes frequent training with our Regular battalions.

We date from 1680. Today’s regiment was formed on the 1st July 2006 from the merger of three historic regiments of the North West: The King’s Own Royal Border Regiment, The King’s Regiment and The Queen’s Lancashire Regiment.
To mark Remembrance Day the 1st Battalion had the honour of exercising the freedom of the City of Liverpool. Marching with drums beating, Colours flying and bayonets fixed, before conducting a Service of Remembrance at Liverpool Parish Church.

Corporal James Kirby, a Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment (LANCS) soldier based at Infantry Training Centre (ITC) Catterick, has ‘tabbed’ 154 miles, carrying 59kg, across the North of England in 48 hours, all in aid of Blesma.The charity is close to Cpl Kirby's heart, as his mum Denise had suffered from a life of physical difficulties after having her legs removed and being left unable to use her arms.
