Where to see art in KL-One for the art enthusiast!

Head to Kuala Lumpur's top art galleries for all your art cravings from film photography to contemporary paintings and everything in between. It won't matter if you're an art collector, enthusiast or someone who wants to soak up the local culture, here is a list of art galleries that is going to give you the best experience!

1

The G13 Gallery

If you're unfamiliar with Kelana Jaya's inner parts, getting to G13 can require some skilled manoeuvring, but the trip is worthwhile if you're searching for artwork from an upcoming trendy gallery. The owner, Kenny Teng, has made progress fostering better relations between locals' artists and the region. G13 made its debut at Art Stage Singapore in 2014, with Haslin Ismail's sci-fi-inspired artworks. Its aim is to promote a greater understanding of Asian art while also identifying future artists.

2

The Galeri Chandan

Galeri Chandan seems to have a proclivity for being interested in award ceremonies. It won the START Most Promising Asian Gallery award at the Prudential Eye Awards back in 2014, and several others since. When it's not collecting prizes, the gallery hosts exhibits in the contemporary Publika space. And it really is worth a visit. Art lovers will fall in love with the works displayed here instantly! If you're looking for a 4-star hotel in KL close to galleries, then you can check out properties like The Kuala Lumpur Journal Hotel for a good experience!

3

The Galeri TAKSU

TAKSU may have a homey feel to it, but the art is magnificent, and the gallery is one of the industry's oldest. TAKSU has welcomed artists-in-residence, highlighted talents from around the world, such as the late Robert Rauschenberg. It also has a Singapore foundation and base. Contemporary artworks do dominate the line up here! The domestic setting of the gallery helps you to envision whatever potential purchases you have in mind in your personal space at home!

4

The HOM Art Trans

Are you looking for work by upcoming artists? HOM Art Trans, or the HOM in short, has earned a reputation as a kind of an incubator, setting all the pieces in order to help emerging artists. Art residencies and scholarships, such as the Malaysia Emerging Artist Prize, are among its initiatives, and its partnerships span Southeast Asia. If you are an emerging artist looking to make a name for yourself in the community, then you must head over here!

5

The MAP @ Publika

The White Box and Black Box at MAP are rental rooms, and there is healthy competition amongst the galleries in the cities for a spot on the annual calendar. MAP's rigorous screening process means that the revolving mix is of high quality, and it has also hosted art auctions to award shows, and also group exhibits from KL's most promising artists. What's the bonus? There are various restaurants around that promises plenty of hot cups of coffee to drink as you mull about the artworks you saw during your tour.
