What to pack for Singapore -The ultimate travel checklist to Singapore

Despite its tiny size the famous Lion City size is packed with many activities and attractions. Here are a few things you should take with you to enjoy a hassle-free trip to Singapore.

1

Luggage

Travelling light is key to have a trouble-free vacation anywhere. Opt for a travel backpack instead of the rolling suitcase. The great thing about these backpacks is that they can be opened up like a suitcase, unlike a regular backpack. So, each and everything you packed will be readily available for you to take out without having to go through the entire bag. A backpack with waterproof sailcloth will also come in handy. Singapore is known for its sudden outpours and if travelling during the monsoon you have to be prepared for a lot of wet weather. A travel backpack with tons of pockets and compartments are ideal to organise your belongings accordingly.

2

Sun gear

Singapore is known to have hot weather for the most part of the year. So, plenty of good sunscreens are essential. The sunscreen will come in handy if you plan on visiting Sentosa Island, the beaches or any resort or hotel near Merlion Park. Also, don't forget a good pair of sunglasses and a hat. Pack a couple of extra swimwear as well, to enjoy some time at the pool or beach. It is the best way to beat the heat in Singapore.

3

Mosquito repellent/ rain gear

Thankfully mosquitoes are not such a health hazard in Singapore as in some other tropical South Asian countries. However, do pack a good repellent just in case, if you plan on visiting attractions like a night safari it will be useful. A nice big umbrella or a raincoat is another packing essential. Because of the humidity sudden outpours are common. Best take one with you everywhere you travel.

4

Water

As mentioned before the high humidity levels will leave you sweating quite a bit! Thus, it's important to keep your hydration up. Take a water bottle with you everywhere you travel. You can easily top up at a fountain or a tap. One of the great things about Singapore is that its water supply is one of the cleanest in the world! You can safely top up anywhere and drink without fear.

5

Clothes

Pack several cotton T-shirts and lightweight shorts or trousers. Cotton dresses and flowy tops for ladies will be a comfortable option. Comfortable walkers such as sneakers or sandals will also do nicely. As Singapore is small, you can easily explore most places on foot. However, do pack a nice dress, trousers and a pair of shoes as well. Especially if you want to visit a nice restaurant or bar, as there is plenty to go around in Singapore. If travelling during the monsoon which is from November to January pack a light cardigan or sweater, as it can get mildly chilly at night. In terms of accommodation, a hotel like PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay is a nice option to consider as well.
