Sri Lanka Bucket List – Gear up for your next holiday!

Sri Lanka, often called the 'pearl of the Indian Ocean' is an island that has to be on every travellers bucket list. This Island may be tiny, but there's a whole lot of exciting things to do and amazing things to see during your time there!

1

Tea factories and tea plantations

Nothing beats Ceylon tea! A warm cup of freshly brewed tea surrounded by the lush green mountains is a truly Sri Lankan experience one must not miss out on. While you're planning your holiday around the island nation, make sure to add a stay or two at one of the many Ella hotels in Sri Lanka, the likes of Bandarawela Hotel. During your time in the hill country, drop by the many tea factories and tea plantations for first hand insight into local tea culture, talk to some of the tea pluckers and even try your hand at tea plucking!

2

Cultural Capital

Kandy, located at the very heart of Sri Lanka, is the island's cultural capital with a plethora of great things to do. In contrast to Colombo, Kandy is a rather laid back and lazy city (except during rush hour!) and is ideal for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city but still have plenty of fun things to do, see and explore. The Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is located in Kandy Town and is walking distance from several major hotels. Inside of this marvelous temple, you'll find several amusing artefacts and a museum explaining the timeline of the introduction of Buddhism into the country.

3

Down South

Craving for some much-needed sun, sea and sand? Head down south! The south of Sri Lanka is not only perfect for the beach gooers but is also completely alive with parties and dancing, especially during the weekends. For those looking to blow off some steam, meet new people and experience the parry scene in Sri Lanka, nothing beats down south and all it has to offer.

4

The northern parts of the island

If you're up for a few hours of travelling and have the time, opt to explore the north of Sri Lanka. Previously unchartered territories during the civil war, the North is now developing at an extremely fast rate and is perfect for the curious. The cities in the north of Sri Lanka are safe, and boasts enough of sights to see and properties to stay at. Point Pedro and Delft Island has to find a place in your itinerary.

5
