The Most Beautiful Places To Visit In Nuwara Eliya - Explore the mesmerising colonial town

Nuwara Eliya located in the hill country of Sri Lanka is also known as little England and this is not only because of the cool weather that welcomes you as you reach the city on the winding roads.

1

Victoria Park

Nuwara Eliya is a great place to go to in order to relax and wind down to get away from the busy city life and the Victoria Park is a great place to start your vacation in Nuwara Eliya. Victoria Park is beautiful, peaceful and is well maintained making it a lovely place to sit and relax for a whole morning or evening. The flowers, the ferries and the swing sets that are located around the park add to the mood of the park.

2

Pedro Tea Estate

You can take a guided tour of the tea estate which was established in 1885 and you can see several details of architecture from the 19th Century which has been able to stand the test of time and weather. You will be able to visit the tea plantation and see the women in action picking tea leaves which transforms into the divine 'Ceylon tea' that Sri Lanka is well known for around the world.

3

Gregory Lake

Gregory Lake is located in a place that adds beauty to many Luxury bungalows in Nuwara Eliya. It is not located in the centre of the town and that is one of the factors that make it beautiful because you have to drive along the winding roads to discover this beautiful location. Sundays are active near Gregory lake as there are boat rides and food stalls where you can enjoy nature and meals together with the cold air surrounding you.

4

Bale Bazaar

This bazaar is a must-visit location when you are in Nuwara Eliya. The Bale Bazaar which is also known as the Winter Market sells cheap winter clothing (although it never goes to minus temperatures in Nuwara Eliya). Shopping at this Bazaar for sweaters and jackets is more of the experience and a souvenir than the practicality of it. Scottish Planter Glendevon Bungalow and many other guest houses are located in the vicinity making it a short trip to the Bazaar from the town.

5

Ambewela Farm

The Ambewela Farm is known to be New Zealand away from New Zealand. You get to see cows grazing along bright green grass fields enjoying their time. The travellers will also have the opportunity to walk barefoot on the grass in order to understand how soft the grass is. Depending on the time you make the visit to the Ambewela Farm you might also get to see the milking of the cows which is an unusual experience and a unique sight to see. You can opt for a guided tour of the Farm so you are able to understand the whole process that takes places within the premises.

6

Seetha Amman Kovil

The Seetha Amman Kovil is a Hindu Temple a little out of Nuwara Eliya but a location that is worth your time. The statues and structures with the colourful details are mesmerising and captivating and it makes you astonished about the creativity and patience of those who created them many years ago. The temple is popular as it is said to have been visited often by Sita from the Rama-Sita folklore.
