Over 20,000 shells, controlled by a state-of-the-art electronic system, will be launched from two barges on Lake Michigan, off the shore of Veterans Park. The fireworks will not be rescheduled in the event of severe weather. Veterans Park and Juneau Park offer prime seating for the event.
The city and town of Brookfield and village of Elm Grove are offering a variety of activities for people of all ages to enjoy for this year's Independence Day celebrations. Below is a guide to the parade routes, fireworks displays, and other planned events, as well as a few rules to help families plan for this year's holiday.
Menomonee Falls - The Menomonee Falls Independence Day Parade is scheduled for 7 p.m. July 3. The parade starts at Elm Lane and proceeds down Appleton Avenue to Woosencraft Drive. The festivities conclude with fireworks at dusk, about 9:30 p.m., shot off at Menomonee Falls High School.
New Berlin - The city will again celebrate the Fourth of July every year with days of rides, fun and activities. The committee planning the event always comes up with new things, and this year is no exception. "We have all kinds of new stuff," said Anida Rose, who has led New Berlin Fourth of July celebration planning for decades.
Ski team puts on July 3 show preceded by afternoon family event Muskego - A Water Bugs pre-holiday hoop-la, offering a water ski show, children's fun, food and fireworks, will take place July 3 at Idle Isle Park.

Greenfield - You might say the Greenfield Fourth of July celebration is going to the dogs - hound dogs and hot dogs, that is. New to the celebration this year is a contest to impersonate Elvis, whose early hits include the iconic "Hound Dog" song.
