6 Tips to Make the Best Coffee From Your French Press - Concoct your ultimate drink

If you love coffee, you know there are many simple and complicated ways to make this energizing drink that most people opt to have first thing in the morning. The French Press is the simplest coffee brewing method that exists and here are a few tips on how to make the best coffee with your French Press.

1

Buying your French Press

Opt for a good brand and do some extensive research before you buy a French press. It might help if you take a look at coffee machine focused stores like Fits Retail to get the best brand of French Press in Sri Lanka. Also, read up on getting a great coffee plunger in Sri Lanka.

2

Use a coarse grind

French presses usually blend the coffee in hot water for 4 minutes and provide a lot more contact between the water and the coffee grounds compared to the other methods of brewing. For instance, espresso is usually brewed within just a minute or even less. Using a coarse grind will make your life easier and coffee that much yummier.

3

Weigh the water and coffee

The best way to measure coffee and water is by weighing it, especially if you are very precise about how your coffee must taste. Different coffees have various densities, for instance, South American coffees are lighter than African coffees because the beans from each country carry different densities. Measuring the volume will not be as beneficial as measuring the weight. Normally, the coffee to water ratio should be 1:16 or more. At the maximum, it can be 1:18.

4

Wetting the Grind

When you have your French press ready to go, do not immediately fill it up until water. First, wet the ground separately by letting them soak for about half a minute so the coffee can bloom and then add the rest of the warm water to the coffee grounds. This will ultimately make your coffee taste better and applies to many types of coffee, not just a French Press cup.

5

Do not begin to stir immediately

Usually, the coffee grounds will float right up to the top of the hot water and not be completely beneath as soon as you pour it in. Give it a minute before you start stirring and continue to do so for the next minute or until it blends completely. The brewing time for French press coffee should usually be for at least 4 to 5 minutes for the best taste. This is the total time from when the coffee and water meet. You can use a timer to have an accurate soaking of the coffee in the hot water for a satisfactory French Press blend.

6

Pouring the coffee

Once you have given the coffee grinds and water ample brewing time, it is now a plunge and pour moment. Enjoy the amazing concoction that will instantly energise you, and if you have any leftovers, you can store it in a thermal carafe so it does not get too bitter.
