Most Infamous Murderers from Around the World

A morbidly fascinating list of the most infamous murderers from throughout history and across the globe.

Andrei Chikatilo

The first body found was mostly bones. A man looking for firewood in the lesopolosa, a rectangular "shelterbelt" or forested strip of land planted to prevent erosion, found the remains. While the area was only about 50 yards wide, with a path running through it, no one had seen this body until it was pretty well decomposed.

Jeffrey Dahmer

Jeffrey Dahmer was born in Milwaukee on May 21, 1960. He killed his first murder victim, Steven Hicks, with a blow to the head in 1978. Dahmer killed 17 men, molesting some of them, between 1978 to 1991. Once caught, he was sentenced to 15 consecutive life terms in 1992.

Moses Sithole

Moses Sithole was born in 1964 to Simon and Sophie Sithole, one of five children, near Boksburg, in what was then the Transvaal Province of apartheid South Africa. Childhood poverty was exacerbated following the death of his father, and his mother, Sophie, unable to support the children, abandoned them at a local police station.

Beverley Allitt

Beverley Allitt, or the 'Angel of Death' as she became known, has become one of Britain's most notorious female serial killers. This is made more shocking by the fact that whilst she went on a killing spree that claimed four young lives and attempted the murder of nine other victims, she befriended the parents of her victims with her caring and solicitous manner.

Anthony Sowell

Neighbors on Imperial Avenue in Cleveland, OH., complained of a foul stench around this clapboard house, the residence of 50-year-old Anthony Sowell (pictured). The smell was largely blamed on a nearby sausage factory until October 29, 2009, when a search revealed the bodies of eleven women in the home.
