5 Things you should do in Bangkok – The capital of your dreams!

Bangkok is commonly known as the gateway to the Southeast Asian world and it holds this title quite proudly. You can spend a long time in Bangkok and never get bored! Here are five things for you to explore.

Wat Arun

Known to be one of the most beautiful and popular temples of Bangkok, Wat Arun is locally known as Wat Chaeng and is a landmark temple located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. Easily one of the most stunning temples in the city, the architecture and design of the temple is said to be very different from that of the others. Located 30 minutes from Avani Atrium Bangkok and within easy reach from several other Bangkok city hotels – this temple is a must-visit when you're in Bangkok. You must spend at least an hour visiting the temple and it is known to be most beautiful at sunset! The prang or spire is one of Bangkok's world-famous landmarks, rising over 70 metres high, decorated with coloured glass and Chinese porcelain creating intricate patterns.

If you're up for the challenge, you can climb up the central prang – although the steps are quite steep! However, the highest spot gives you stunning views of the winding Chao Phraya River, the Grand Palace and Wat Pho.

Sky Bars

No better way to enjoy Bangkok than from the very top! There are plenty of rooftop and sky bars dotted around the city of Bangkok for you to explore, all the while enjoying a good drink and breathtaking views! Although the cocktails are not the cheapest, admission to these bars are free. Do keep in mind that the dress code for these bars is smart casual, so long pants and closed shoes for men is very important!

The food

Bangkok is revered to be one of the world's greatest food cities and as soon as you start discovering the city, you will also realize that the number of delicious things to eat is endless! Restaurants of all calibres and levels, serving Thai and international cuisine are flourishing. If you enjoy exploring street food, Bangkok is the place to go as the street food possibilities are endless! You can get absolutely anything from a snack to eat while you're exploring the streets or sit down for a true feast! Floating markets

Floating Markets are a common phenomenon in Bangkok! This unique and different market is one way in which the local's shop. The Taling Chan floating market has several common food stalls, souvenirs and a floating platform with boats around it. You buy the food from the boats and sit on the small tables and eat what you just purchased! The market is open every weekend from 8:30 in the morning up to 2 in the afternoon.

As one of the largest markets in the world, the Chatuchak weekend market boasts over 10,000 stalls selling almost everything. For a local experience, visit the Chatuchak market! Due to the sheer size of the market, it takes almost an entire day to explore the market.
