Known to be one of the most beautiful and popular temples of Bangkok, Wat Arun is locally known as Wat Chaeng and is a landmark temple located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. Easily one of the most stunning temples in the city, the architecture and design of the temple is said to be very different from that of the others. Located 30 minutes from Avani Atrium Bangkok and within easy reach from several other Bangkok city hotels – this temple is a must-visit when you're in Bangkok. You must spend at least an hour visiting the temple and it is known to be most beautiful at sunset! The prang or spire is one of Bangkok's world-famous landmarks, rising over 70 metres high, decorated with coloured glass and Chinese porcelain creating intricate patterns.
If you're up for the challenge, you can climb up the central prang – although the steps are quite steep! However, the highest spot gives you stunning views of the winding Chao Phraya River, the Grand Palace and Wat Pho.
