5 Safety Travel Tips before travelling to Dubai – Helpful advice for better travel experiences

Dubai is an incredible part of the United Arab Emirates that warrants one's attention and in turn, a 'must travel' destination. However, certain guidelines must be made note of well in advance.

1

Schedule trips between October and April

In general, the weather in Dubai is characteristic of what you will encounter in the Middle East: hot and humid spells. Although, one must not be put off by this as the period beginning October through April is when the winter season arrives in Dubai. Hence, perfect, sunny, and bright & blue skies will be the order of the day which would tell you that vacationing during this time of year is your best bet. On the odd occasion, rain showers may develop but these instances are a far cry from what you would experience should you be heading to your average European country.

2

Consider your flight plan

Get into the habit of checking online for your favourite airlines and the prices they offer to regions such as Dubai. Having a wealth of such information will surely come in handy when the time arrives to make a booking. Also, international airlines are known to release their cheapest seats at least six months prior to departure dates. However, you do not need to fret over airlines and tickets too much as purchasing your tickets at least a month before you leave would suffice.

3

Reserve your choice of accommodation at the earliest

Given the fact that October to April is high season, deciding on your preferred location and choice of lodging well in advance must be given considerable thought to avoid any unnecessary hassle and disappointments. For example, if you seek a luxury hotel in Dubai such as Oaks Ibn Battuta Gate Dubai which is close to Interchange 6, then ensure that you have made a booking a good 2 to 3 months before you plan on being here. A good starting point would be to opt for such modes that are well placed with regards to the most traversed tourist destinations in Dubai.

4

Request for permission before taking pictures

Clicking on popular areas in Dubai is by all means allowed but be mindful that you should always ask permission from strangers in the event they happen to be in a particular location as you are. As a word of advice, avoid taking pictures of government buildings, military establishments, and airports as well. A strict code of conduct must be adhered to, especially when out in the open and amongst locals as the Muslim culture is given pride of place in Dubai.

5

Be cautious when you consume alcohol

Although, alcohol is legal in Dubai; being seen in a drunken stupor in public is bound to attract the attention of local authorities which must be avoided at all costs. Further, drinking and driving are a huge 'No' and if resorted to, will easily have you hauled up by law enforcement officers. The purchasing of alcohol can only be done with a license and that too from authorized establishments alone. The above requirement does not apply to instances where you are seen dining at restaurants or spending time at a pub with your best mates.
