Rihanna performed at the city's LG Arena on Monday night as part of her Diamonds world tour. Amateur footage shows her 'high-fiving' members of the audience as she walks along stage singing her hit "We Found Love". One over-enthusiastic fan then grabs the pop star's arm and holds on.

During the Birmingham stop of her Diamonds world tour, one overzealous fan in the front row grabbed Rihanna, 25, as she sauntered by during a song, refusing to let go of her.

Amateur video footage showing Rihanna hitting an unknown fan in the face at her latest concert has gone viral. The video, taken on a mobile phone, appears to show the singer dealing with an over enthusiastic fan by using her microphone as a weapon.

The pop star remained unapologetic for striking a fan with her microphone, saying she did it on "purpose".

Last month, Beyoncé demonstrated the stern, all-business way to deal with a too-grabby concert attendee: tell the fan off (then wait for Julius to deal with it). Yesterday in Birmingham, England, Rihanna offered a feistier tactic: hitting the fan in the head with a microphone.
