Structure of the resume

A resume is usually divided into several sections, each of which is designed to give the prospective employer a summary of all the information about the candidate that is needed for the job. You should not put information on your resume that has nothing to do with the job. You should put only information that will help to describe you as well as possible.

Internet resumes have recently become widespread, filled out according to a certain template on Job sites and posted on specialized sites of recruiting agencies. There are also professional services that offer "competent" resumes.

One more so far not widespread type of resume is a video professional resume services, which is a short video clip where the candidate talks about himself, his skills, etc. And just as with Internet resumes, there are specialized sites for them to post them and companies that record and post them.

So, the recommended structure when writing a resume is as follows:

1. the candidate's personal information/contact information

Full name, address, phone number (including area code), e-mail, Skype (if available), date of birth. You can also include marital status and the presence of children, if necessary.

2. Purpose - a brief description of the position you are applying for.

If you are NOT applying for a specific position, do not list more than one position at a time, unless they are from a related field. Write separate resumes for each. You can indicate a field of work you are interested in.

3.Work Experience or Internship.

As a rule for a person with a long employment history it is recommended to indicate only the last 3-5 jobs and the period not longer than 10 years, for a young specialist it is important to indicate the entire working (practical) experience.

It is customary to describe this item in reverse chronological order: first the current or last place of work, then the previous one, etc. Opposite the time and place of work (company name) indicate your position and functions, focusing on professional achievements, it is desirable to digitize achievements so that the figures were adequate and weighty. When describing achievements, action verbs should be used, such as developed, saved, increased or reduced. Very specific language is desirable.

Each paragraph should include:

  • Period of employment/practice (month and year of hire/dismissal);
  • Company or business name (it is not necessary to write the detailed address of the company where you worked, it is enough to write its name and the city where it is located);
  • Line of work;
  • Position;
  • Your responsibilities;
  • Examples of specific achievements in quantitative terms (%, $, units, etc.).

4.Education (diplomas, certificates, etc.)

Education is indicated with dates, in reverse order.
Education in the resume writer service of a young specialist, with no or minimal practical work experience (not counting practice), takes the leading place, so it is important to describe this point in detail. It is recommended to indicate subjects studied (especially those in which the greatest success was achieved), good and excellent grades, awards at competitions and contests, etc.

5. Professional Skills (Knowledge and Skills)

The first skills you list here are those that are directly related to the specific job duties of the job you are seeking. Other skills can be listed in the additional information section.

6. Additional information or "hobbies" (or "awards and community service").

Other information that may be of interest to the employer (car ownership, willingness to travel, marital status, personal qualities, and hobbies).
In the West, the item "awards and social activities" is included necessarily, as a person is often best recommended by social status: clubs, societies, awards, etc. Since our society does not have such a system, it is advisable to indicate what is at least indirectly related to the specialty.
You should not list whether or not you are a member of any parties or religious communities.

7. References Information

If you have chosen to indicate this information, you should do so:

  • Name of recommender;
  • Name of the referral; * His or her position;
  • Name of the organization where he/she works;
  • Contact information.

8. Date of writing the resume.

In the conclusion it is necessary to put the date of the resume and the signature. Dating the resume increases the credibility of the interest in the job, an old date may indicate that the candidate has long and unsuccessful job search.

9. Salary Expectations.

It is desirable to specify the level of salary you expect. It is better to write about it in the cover letter to the resume, here you can also give any additional explanations to the resume.
