Have you ever heard of a saying theres always something good in every bad? well let me introduce you to my adopted bacterium Pantoea agglomerans a marvellous bacterium of evil and good.
It is a Gram-Negative bacterium that belongs to the family of Erwiniaceae. It is both deleterious and beneficial, on one side it causes disorders in people exposed to organic dust and crops, and on the other side it produces substances effective in cancer treatment, and potential efficient biofertilizers and bioremediatory.
Pantoea agglomerans, a gammaproteobacterium of plant origin, possesses many beneficial traits that could be used for the prevention and/or treatment of human and animal diseases, combating plant pathogens, promotion of plant growth and bioremediation of the environment. It produces a number of antib …
Pantoea agglomerans is a Gram-negative rod in the Enterobacteriaceae family. It is reported as both commensal and opportunistic pathogen of animals and humans. This organism is potential candidates as powdered infant milk formula-borne opportunistic pathogen. The aim of our study was to perform isolation, identification and antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of Pantoea (Enterobacter) agglomerans strains isolated from consumed powdered infant formula milk (PIF) in NICU ward.
Pantoea agglomerans could play a role in the regulation of the water content of the rhizosphere of wheat by improving soil aggregation.
In 1999, significant yield losses in SC cotton resulted from a previously unobserved seed and boll rot that has since been reported in other southeastern states. This study demonstrated a role of P. agglomerans in producing opportunistic bacterial seed and boll rot of cotton.
Pantoea agglomerans is an environmental Gram-negative bacterium that rarely is responsible for the infections in humans but it is often a causative factor of a number of occupational diseases. This study evaluated the clinical and microbiological characteristics and pathogenicity of P. agglomerans in children.
