Top 5 things to do in Hong Kong on a budget – For your future Hong Kong holiday

Hong Kong really isn't as expensive a destination as you think it is. So, if you are planning on travelling here sometime this year, read through this article to find out things to do in Hong Kong with no pressure on your wallet

1

Walkthrough the streets of Sheung Wan

This is where you will find a variety of items that you can take back home as souvenirs and for a great price as well. Head over to Cat Street in Upper Lascar Row and walk your way through. Explore the little stalls and shops and strike up a conversation with the locals at the store. Browse through items like old movie posters, noodle bowls, chopsticks and teapots. You are sure to end up purchasing more than one of the items on display because it is so inexpensive!

2

Soak in the Kowloon street life

Step into Kowloon and you'll be hit by the strong essence of Hong Kong in the air. It is one of the most popular places for shopping as well as people watching. The streets are quite crowded and mind you, the locals do not walk slowly! If you want to keep up, you better pick up the pace. Mong Kok is filled with animal shops as animals are thought to bring good luck. You will come across the goldfish market and the famed Yuen Po Bird Garden where songbirds sit patiently in their little abode made of bamboo waiting to find a home.

3

Hike through Po Toi Island

Explored enough city life in Hong Kong? Then it's time to get away from all that city buzz for a while. Make your way to the small village called Stanley located on the coast of the island. Explore the most famous attraction here, Blake Pier which is said to have been built in Edwardian style. Walkthrough the village and simple revel in the peaceful atmosphere. Things go a little slow-paced here than the rest of the island. If you happen to be here on a weekend or public holiday, take the ferry over to Po Toi Island which is well known for its seaweed industry and rock formations. Take the natural hiking trail right up to Ngau Wu Teng pavilion for the best views and explore Palm Cliff, Tortoise Rock, Monk Rock and Nam Tum cliff with its 3000-year-old carvings.

4

Skyline views at Tsim Sha Tsui

Just an 18-minute drive away from Cosmo Hotel Wan Chai Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui is one of the most wonderful places to visit especially after sunset. The view of the skyline here is a crowd puller. The city on the opposite side has as many as 8000 skyscrapers and is a magnificent sight to the eye. Also, if you are here by 8 pm, you will be able to witness a display of amazing lights before heading back to your hotel.

5

Delve into the silver screen

Visit the Hong Kong Film Archive and you'll be able to explore the local film industry and the history surrounding it. The museum is even home to a few original costumes that belonged to actors of the past. It is easily reachable from boutique hotels in Hong Kong.
