ocated just off the equator, Tanzania was formed in 1964 as a sovereign state. The Tanzanian mainland is bordered by Lake Victoria, Uganda, Kenya and the Indian Ocean. Apart from the offshore islands and the mainland coastal belt, Tanzania lies 600 metres above sea level. The climate here is hot and arid; it's tropical, and the rainfall is seasonal. The best time to visit the country is the period from July to October; this is the driest season of the year. As for accommodation, Zanzibar resorts are very popular; an example of Tanzanian accommodation is The Residence Zanzibar.

2

Mount Kilimanjaro

This is the most celebrated attraction of Tanzania. Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in all of Africa. Tourists usually visit national parks to witness the wildlife, but those who visit Mount Kilimanjaro visit to stand in the awe-inspiring image of the mountain. You can climb this beautiful snow-capped mountain at any time of the year; however, the best time for the activity is from June to October. This World Heritage Site came into being nearly 1 million years ago as a result of volcanic movement. Uhuru Peak is the highest point, and it is among the Seven Summits of the world.

Serengeti National Park

The sprawling plain doesn't have trees, but they are millions of wildlife species living here or passing through. The annual wildebeest migration is the most highlighted occurrence at the park. The park is also home to over 500 species of birds. Serengeti National Park is the second-largest park in the country, and it attracts a massive number of tourists each year. For those who are fascinated by wildlife, the park offers just what they are looking for. December to June is the perfect time to visit the park if your goal is to see wildlife. March to May is the wet period, and the coldest period is from June to October.

One of the most visited wildlife viewing areas in the country, Ngorongoro Conservation Area sits between Lake Manyara and Serengeti. This is where you find the famous Ngorongoro Crater. This volcanic crater provides a permanent supply of water, which means that thousands of wildlife species live here rather than just migrating. Someone visiting the park does so for two reasons: bird watching and seeing wildlife. The animals that live here include buffaloes, rhinos, lions, elephants and zebras. Lake Migadi is the perfect place for birdwatching as it draws thousands of flamingoes.

6

Lake Manyara National Park

Comprised of swamps, grasslands and woodland, Lake Manyara National Park is another spot in Tanzania known for wildlife. A bigger part of the park consists of water, which makes it a haven for bird species like flamingos. Other inhabitants of the park include elephants, hippos and monkeys.
