5 Best-Hidden Attractions to Explore in Adelaide – Places you might not know about…

Adelaide is filled with so many tourist attractions but if you know where to look you will be able to find some unique and unpopular sights that are must-visit locations when in South Australia.

1

Umpherston Sinkhole

If you have ever heard anyone saying you have to see it to believe it then this attraction is exactly what it is. The Umpherston Sinkhole is a breathtaking creation which has hanging vines, flowers, trees and other floral and fauna that make it seem like there is a much more beautiful world down under. You might also come across some intrigued possums that are residents of the area. The area was built on limestone is the cause for the sinkhole which took its shape over many years.

2

Lake Bumbunga

Lake Bumbunga is another attraction that you must see to believe. The locals also love to spend time near Lake Bumbunga as it is a popular attraction among children due to the changing colour of the water. The water in the lake is generally a bubblegum baby pink but during different seasons, due to the weather and the temperature, the colour changes from different shades of blues to purples. If you are staying at Avani Adelaide Residences or another hotel or resort you can plan to visit the Lake Bumbunga on a day trip as it is located about 2 hours out of the main city.

3

Naracoorte Caves

The Naracoorte Caves are a location that will take you on a trip down history as you will get to see types of sand, rocks and even fossils of animals that used to live during a time before mankind came into being. The caves alone are absolutely stunning but when you go inside to explore you will not want to leave as it is a wonderful cold and calming experience inside each and every cave. Located not too far from Adelaide hotels this is one activity that you might want to do more than once during your trip.

4

Remarkable rock formations

You will be amazed by these rocks that you will set your eyes on as they will be nothing like the rocks you have ever seen before. These granite boulders have been through 500 million years of formation due to the rain, sun, wind and waves they are exposed to. What they are today is a mesmerising creation by mother nature. Located on Kangaroo Island the rocks are not the only things you will be able to see as there are seals young and old residing in the area putting quite a show for the visitors.

5

Whispering wall

The Whispering wall is one of those experiences you have to live through to be able to believe it. The wall which once served as the main structure of the Barossa Reservoir is now a magical musical arena. It is a large wall that was functional from 1899 to 1903 but is no longer serving the same purpose as it used to. The mystery and the excitement at the dam are that you can whisper something to a friend or a fellow traveller and they will be able to hear you clearly from the other side.
